I really am not sure this is an appropriate name! I made this recipe up, and after sharing the video on TikTok, someone commented that it was similar to their southern dirty rice recipe. So, I've been calling it that ever since. I hope I am not making any southern cook roll her eyes at me!
I love this recipe because it is simple, economical, tasty and nourishing! Totally a "me" recipe! All my favorite things. Ha! Make this for your family in about 30 minutes.
Dirty Rice with Ground Beef Recipe
by Melisha Meredith, serves 6 people
Ingredients:
2 pounds of grass fed ground beef*
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped bell pepper
3/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
4 cups of organic white rice
4 cups of bone broth
Instructions:
Using the sauté function of the Instant Pot, begin to brown your ground beef.
When the beef is almost cooked through, add your onion and bell pepper, seasonings, rice and bone broth. Stir well.
Turn off the saute function and put the lid, sealed, on the Instant Pot.
Set to cook on the rice function. (12 min., low pressure)
You can release the pressure manually or let it release naturally. Either way works.
Give it a good stir, test for seasoning, and serve warm.
Notes:
*You can also make this with ground venison (we most often do) or ground turkey.
We serve this with a green veggie but you could make it your whole meal if you wanted!
I'd love to know if you end up making this!
Wishing you abundant health,
Melisha Meredith
